the back forty mine

The Back Forty Mine is a proposed open-pit zinc and gold mine located in Menominee County in the South Central part of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The mine is estimated to produce 721 million pounds of zinc and 532 thousand ounces of gold. In addition, the mine is predicted to yield 74 million pounds of copper, 4.6 million ounces of silver, and 21 million pounds of lead during operations.

Our goal is to safely construct, operate, and eventually close the Back Forty Mine. We promise to provide domestic minerals, create new jobs, and boost the local economy, all while protecting the environment.
